Definition
Subject–verb agreement means that the verb agrees with the subject in person and number.Example:
1. I am happy.
Subject: I (first person, singular)
Verb used: am
When the subject is I, the verb am is used.
2. She is happy.
Subject: she (third person, singular)
Verb used: is
When the subject changes from I to she, the verb changes from am to is.
3. They are happy.
Subject: they (third person, plural)
Verb used: are
When the subject changes to they, the verb changes to are.
In short
When the person or number of the subject changes, the form of the verb also changes to agree with the subject.
